Easterndaze @ Resonance FM
Easterndaze compilation
Much of the last year (that is 2010 if you've wondered) has been taken by Easterndaze, exploring the fringes of up-and-coming Eastern European sounds. As a result (or memento?), I have compiled a sampler of the best sounds that we could find. Check it out (drop me an email if you'd like to have a physical copy with a psychedelic painting specially made for us by Slovak painter Jarmila Mitrikova)Anemic mixtape

Between Sound and Vision: An Exploration of the Prague Audiovisual Scene for Resonance FM
"The Bohemian capital boasts a rich cinematic legacy but Lucia takes us on an audio tour of Prague’s new experimental audiovisual scene. Five local artists talk about their work accompanied by sonic samples from their ouvre." (Resonance FM, aired on 14 August 2009, repeated on 15 August 2009)
Underground: Ivan "Magor" Jirous of Plastic People of the Universe in a Prague squat
In November 2009, Prague was in the midst of commemorating the twentieth anniversary of the fall of Communism, the so-called Velvet Revolution of 1989. The jingling of keys on Wenceslas Square still echoes in the collective memory reminding us of the not-so-distant dark patch on our history. The Plastic People of the Universe will perpetually epitomize the dissent movement, resilient in their anti-communist stance and beliefs in non-coformism.
The following sonic collage utilizes the recording of Plastic People of the Universe‘s Ivan 'Magor' Jirous during his reading (in autumn 2009) in an underground basement at a Prague-based squat. This sound piece aims to emulate the underground feel of the era when a congregation like this could have only happened "underground".
The evening brought together the traditional 'old-school' Czech underground represented by Jirous with the new generation of anarchists who occupy the squat. (aired on Resonance FM on 16 November 2009)
